Police Chief Termination Resolution Passed by FCDC

The Fairfax County Democratic Committee (FCDC) has approved a resolution calling on the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors to terminate Police Chief Kevin Davis’ employment. The resolution urges the board to reopen its search through a transparent hiring process using a racial equity decision-making framework and a community screening committee similar to what was used in the county’s 2013 police chief search.
The anniversary of the murder of George Floyd by law enforcement is a stark reminder of the need to overhaul the criminal justice system. It underscores the importance of having a police chief who can build community trust and implement true policing reform so that residents do not need to fear encounters with law enforcement. The FCDC states that its vote is meant to send a strong message that Kevin Davis, who has a history of racially-charged use of force incidents, is clearly not the right person for the job.
