The climate crisis is bringing together Sen. Tim Kaine and his Republican rival for the Senate, Corey Stewart, for a discussion on climate change — with a focus on Virginia — on Tues. Sept. 18 in Vienna, Va.
The Virginia Climate Crisis Forum takes place against a backdrop of rising temperatures — not just globally but here at home. Days above 90 degrees F. per year in Fairfax County have doubled since 1970, from 15 to 31. By 2100, under current predictions, the average summer temperature in our region will be 97 deg.
The event, sponsored by Faith Alliance for Climate Solutions (FACS), will also feature the following panelists:
- Fairfax County Supervisor Dan Storck (D- Mt. Vernon)
- Samantha Ahdoot, MD, chair and co-founder, Virginia Clinicians for Climate Action
- Major General Rick Devereaux, USAF (Ret.), S. Air Force Advisory Board, Center for Climate and National Security
The forum takes place on Tues. Sept. 18 at 7:30 pm at James Madison High School, 2500 James Madison Drive, Vienna, Va., 22181. You can reserve a seat here.
The event will be moderated by Rev. Dr. Jean Wright, co-founder of FACS. Representing more than 70 congregations in the Northern Virginia area, FACS advocates for climate policies in Northern Virginia and in the Commonwealth and empowers neighbors of all faiths to develop local solutions to the climate crisis.
